Chahar Shanbeh Soori or the Festival of the Last Wednesday of the
Iranian year. They have been asking questions in this respect. Kindly, let us
know the jurisprudential viewpoint of late Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani
(r.a.) in this regard. In the name of the Most High The Chahar Shanbeh Soori festival is a superstitious and baseless custom and many practices taking place during this time are not in conformity to jurisprudential rules and standards. It is therefore necessary to avoid doing things that scare or horrify others or inflict damage, harm and injury upon them. Such acts are against the Islamic Shari'ah. Obviously, our understanding people especially the dear youth of the country are expected to use conventional and customary means to express their joy and happiness.
